Teacher - Mrs. Hettrich

Hello, my name is Mrs. Hettrich, Welcome to Elementary ART!  I am looking forward to yet another wonderful year.  This is going to be my third year as the Leechburg Elementary Art Teacher; and each year has proven to be better than the last.  One of my favorite things about being an art teacher is watching my students grow and develop from Kindergarten to Sixth grade.  It is my passion to connect what our students are learning within their core subjects to the art curriculum, thereby deepening their overall understanding and learning experience.

I grew up in the Philadelphia area and received my Bachelor's of Art Education from  Kutztown University in 2006. Upon graduating I taught for three years in the Dallas Area school district, which is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  Through this experience I began working with many students with special needs who I felt benefited  and learned best when using art as a medium to assist learning.  Therefore, I decided to take a year off from teaching and pursue my Masters in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh.  I fell in love with Pittsburgh and my husband and I decided to make Pittsburgh our new home.  I am thankful to have this wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Leechburg Area School District and its community.
